product spotlight: [vegan] protein!

If you asked me to predict what my most popular blog post would be, I would have guessed dead wrong. I'm not sure what I would have guessed, but I do know that it would not have been a recipe I posted immediately after I started re•solve.

Yep, look to your left under my popular posts and you will see a recipe for Arbonne protein bars in the top spot. That was only my third blog post. Crazy! But it yields tons of traffic and repins every single day.

it's not even a good pic, but it gets re-pinned over and over!

Clearly, someone must like them, and I can personally vouch that they are delicious - they taste like no-bake cookies but are easier and quicker to make, plus healthier! I often make these for my events and then take all the leftovers home- Sean (who doesn't even like chocolate!) and I devour them rather quickly.

On to the point. You can't have Arbonne protein bars without one obvious ingredient - our protein powder!

Our protein powder (or shake mix, as labeled above) comes in 3 options - a ready to drink shake, individual shake packets as pictured above, or a bulk bag of powder.

Chocolate and vanilla are the only two flavors, but the possibilites and ad-ons are endless: Arbonne offers "taste twisters" which are flavor packets you can mix in, or you can make any imaginable recipe! I have two multi-page documents that I sent to everyone who orders shakes - one full of shake recipes, and one full of protein bar recipes.

Or, if you just want a plain ol' shake, you can do that too. Our wellness line also includes a fiber that many individuals seeking to lose weight will mix in - it is gritless and tasteless, but packs a lot more fiber than what you buy off store shelves (13 g vs 4g)!

Actually, if you want to lose weight, our shakes are only a part of our 30-day feeling fit kit!

What I love most about the shakes, and Arbonne in general, isn't the taste or even what's in the shakes - it's what Arbonne leaves out of their products that make them spectacular. Our protein powder is free of GMOs, gluten, fructose, artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners, as well as any animal products or byproducts. That's right, they are completely vegan! They are also free of dairy, and soy, two common allergens.

So what the heck is in these? How the heck do I get protein without meat or soy?

I'm so glad you asked! Arbonne's easily digestible blend derives protein from pea, brown rice, and cranberry (don't worry, it still tastes like a chocolate or vanilla shake - sans the chalky or greasy tastes of other shakes!) Aside from that, it includes 20 essential vitamins and minerals. Not bad!

So why can't I just buy soy or whey protein from the store?

If you want to, I can't stop you. I can tell you that Arbonne only uses ingredients that are pure, safe, and beneficial. In other words, we've excluded both of those (and many other) ingredients for a reason. Actually, for many reasons. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Some whey protein supplements can cause gas, bloating, acne, and can be difficult to digest.
  • Whey is high in cholesterol.
  • Soy can block the absorption of important minerals such as calcium.
  • Soy contains high levels of phytoestrogens, which although beneficial in moderate amounts, can be counter-productive in large amounts. Phytoestrogens have been linked to thyroid problems, tumors, infertility, and hormonal imbalances.
    • True story: soy protein was once considered a waste product of the soy oil industry and used almost exclusively as cattle feed.

Whether you want to lose a few pounds, bulk up, improve your overall health, or simply start eating better, our best-selling protein (really, it sells out quite often!) is an outstanding option. I'd be happy to help you on your wellness journey!
